A poem made with thought.
Trying to understand the joys of life only brings me to think of the pain and suffering that long years brought

Trying to be myself, the deceit of the past binds me in chains of glittering jewels

Tempted to turn back to my old ways, the golden grip of the chains pulls me into my past

Reliving days of popularity and power, tears roll down my cheeks, coursing trails down well worn paths

Realizing those days are over, a stone falls into my hand and striking mercilessly at the chains that bind me to my past, the glittering jewels of falsehood begin to fade

Hobbling, crippled by my old ways, I travel down the rest of my path, searching for trust and everlasting love

Standing in front of me, a figure clad in plain wool catches me as I crumble to the ground, whispering joy into my ears

Stranger that He was, He offered me His hand, and pulled me upright with a swift tug

Hand in hand with this Stranger of glory, we walk through streets of gold,
finally finding home in a kingdom made just for us

Meandering through endless plains, all alone, I can only glance at the glory around me and just can’t seem to stop wondering why…
