This is a poem I wrote after reading the book Kissing Doorknobs!
Imagine not knowing how to stop,
Can't stop,
It's uncontrollable.
Things must always be the same,
You're afraid when they're not.
You scrub your hands until they bleed.
You have no choice but to.
You're brain tells you "Germs are bad."
So you mustn't hug, touch, or kiss anyone.
Even your family.
Everyone says you're crazy,
and you start to believe them.
Your parents cry because they don't know.
Horrible thoughts zoom through your head.
Even when you are asleep in bed.
You cannot escape them.
Your friends abandon you.
Your head tells you that if you're near them,
You'll get germs and die.
How can you escape! is all you ever think!
