Looking at my little one and realizing the error of my ways.

Two eyes and ears,
a nose (just like mine);
wispy, curled, natural locks
and small, tender hands and...
why am I angry?

Her heart growing,
with two pink lungs;
never harvest these,
never expire before me...
why am I so mad?

A voice, sweeter than
any sparrow or instrument,
releases notes so gleefully.
You're so free,
but not me...why?

You smile energetically;
without complaint, you trust,
you don't doubt me.
You're so free,
and I'm not...
so, I'll try to love.

Maddie dressed up for a wedding reception captured attention with looks like this one.
dedicated to my little muse, Madeline Margaret

another Maddie inspired poem...
