This is a poem that I sketched out without a thesaurus and then revised.
The words I knew The locutions I knew
Were endless, perhaps Were boundless, conceivably
Incessant in their Ceaseless in their
Calling to my pen. Employment of my fountain pen.
But now all that But now all that
Remains is a thesaurus Lingers is a thesaurus
For high school level For novice level
Verses, prose, and writing. Stanzas, prose, and scribbles.
A dictionary-thesaurus A dictionary-thesaurus
Combination with a yellow jacket Amalgamation with a yellow wrapper
Covering common words Presenting habitual expressions
And not-so-common meanings. And curious significance.
So if I were to use So if I were to utilize
That book of words That tome of terms
To rewrite this poem, To rewrite this verse,
How would it be? How would it be?
The locutions I knew
Were boundless, conceivably
Interminable in their
Posting of my fountain pen.
But now all that
Loiters is a thesaurus
For novice level
Stanzas, prose, and scrawlings.
Amalgamation with a yellow wrapper
Proffering established idioms
And inquisitive implication.
So if I were to utilize
That tome of terms
To revise this metre,
How would it be?
