A quiet summer day in the woods with the family releaving the stress of everyday life...

Today

Today I brought my boys to the woods to walk along,
To race between trees, natural as wind amongst the leaves,
While the birds tuned themselves, as if to sing us on,
As we ran, having fun, stretching our limbs beneath the golden sun,
My soul, whole, like rain retuned unto the sea,
And my life was simple and sweet
As a puppy’s sleeping,
And my boys happy and strong
As my heart’s pumping,
And I stopped to wonder, if time stood still,
Would any of us care, or notice,
Or would we run right through the seasons,
Chasing summer, splashing spring's rain...
