Dear Me Letter

Dear Me Letter written for the Dear Me Contest.

Dear Me,

Happy New Year!

Here's to hoping that this is the year that you find success in writing and music! You have a lot of creative outlets at the moment, that's good. I know that it can seem overwhelming, but trust me when I tell you that all of the hard work will be worth it soon. I will outline what you should focus on and how it should come about.

First, you have your writing. Really you have only started writing just over two months ago and already you have been published and have won several awards. That is amazing! Go you! You started on October 21st, 2009 and already have given fifty reviews and have forty-one items in your WdC portfolio. I know that you love how the WdC community has embraced and encouraged you and I promise that won't stop. You wrote "The Journey"  and it has been reviewed by 123 people and has an average rating of four stars, how cool is that? Pretty cool. This year though we need to write more and enter more contests. You know you like contests because they usually offer some prompt, which helps you focus and write a concise story. Also, you will be spending more time reviewing reviewers with the Vigilante Angel Group. You are proud to be a Vigilante Angel Ranger and you love to spread cheer and goodwill throughout the WdC community. Keep it up this year and get more involved. So far you are doing great!

Second, you really need to focus on the two rock bands you are in. Playing bass is fun for you and you really enjoy playing on stage. Since your life is an open book that everyone can see on Facebook and other sites, that demonstrates that you love the spotlight. I know, I know, you aren't a limelight monger. You could really care less about fame but the money is good so far. With you not working, any money helps, right? You have a lot of shows booked through February and your singer is close by and always willing to practice; take advantage of that whenever possible. I know that you know all of the songs for Jay Satellite and are not worried about that. I also know that you are a little concerned about playing with Vast Massive Satellite because you don't know the songs and there is a gig in two days in Downtown Austin, but don't worry! You know you will excel at it, as you do everything you touch. You are like King Midas but what you touch does not turn to gold, it turns to a win, or an accomplishment. You have been told by so many people that you have a great talent for music, maybe it's time that you listen to them. Trust me!

So, here we are at the end of the letter. I hope that you take these things to heart and open yourself up for success. I know it's hard sometimes. You always feel like maybe your not worth the success or attention, but you really are. Oh and one more thing, remember that there is a certain somebody who loves you on WdC. You talked all day during her vacation and she is this amazingly brilliant and gorgeous woman! She supports you always, remember that. This is the year for love as well, embrace it. Finding time for all of this while raising your eight year old son, Atom, won't be easy but it will be well worth the effort.
