a short poem about the ending of a relationship
This boat is sinking,
Taking on an ocean of tears.
The bleeding hull pierced by scandalous lies.
The lines moored between uncertainties and fears.
Its future anchored to a sandy shore of deceit,
Then rocked by waves of vengeful reproach.
We steered to truths we knew not of,
Under the beady eyes of a lying rat and a drowning roach.
We took on a motley crew of pirates of despair.
They stole hearts of gold and jewels of desire.
They left us with debt and unmistakable loathing.
Our chest left bare of warmth or match for a fire.
Neither of us knew port from starboard gaze.
Our compass blown by winds of apologies made too late.
We started out lovingly rowing our boat.
Our oars, too small and too fragile, now adrift on hate.
