About a craving

CHOCOLATE LAVA CAKE

The clock slowly ticked the time away,
my work day was never going to end....
I watched as it seemed to freeze in place.
Oh why didn't I just call in!
As the clock ticked, and time crept away,
I thought of my fiasco of a lunch earlier in the day.

A trip to the glass box usually satisfied my appetite.
With all the candy, chips, and goodies,
I was sure to find something I liked.
To the slot I went with my cash all ready,
but to my stomachs' surprise
my money refused to go inside.

Why couldn't this just be easy?
On sugery sweets, I could usually depend,
but there was nothing I wanted in that glass box.
My taste buds, their will refused to bend.
The usual goodies just wouldn't do the trick
I'll just have to endure rounds of endless ticks.

Finally, I am at the end of my starving work day.
With my stomachs' insistence I head for the kitchen.
I knew just what I wanted, just what I craved.
With the oven turned on and the timer set,
I sat to watch the magic happen...
my mouth watering, set and all prepped.

The time again, seemed to creep away.
The sound of the slow ticking timer
was starting to drive me crazy!
My stomach is growling impatiently.
How long was I supposed to wait,
for something so tasty?

When out of the oven it came surrounded by a smell.
So warm and so tempting,
that chocolaty goodness I knew so well.
No longer am I resisting,
the richness, the ooey-gooiness that I craved all day.
Now completely satisfied with this chocolate lava cake.
