Chewing Gum

A funny little poem that came to me while trying to fall asleep.

Chewing Gum

Like stale chewing gum
that has worn my jaws out,
you have exhausted me;
and left a bad taste in my mouth.
You've outgrown your usefulness,
bland and tasteless to me now.
Your flavor has gone;
time to spit you out!

No rewrapping to save for later,
and if the others in the pack are like you....
no thanks, I'll choose another flavor.
Maybe I'm harsh,
but like gum,
you only last for so long.
Your obtrusive behavior
has soured my tongue!.
