A poem about one of the most beautiful “songs” I’ve ever heard in the Okavango Delta

In my life filled with unceasing clatter
The voice of my soul went unheard.
So I traveled deep into the heart of Africa
Far away from that frenzied world.

I found myself between the river and desert.
And with anticipation, strained to hear,
On that small island deep in the delta,
The voice of God growing near.

But in that place, chaotic thoughts
Kept my soul tied in a bind.
So God played a glorious symphony,
To quiet the rage of my mind.

As one lone frog sang loud and true
His brothers answered in melody.
I listened long into the night,
To their overwhelming harmony.

My thoughts finally lay quiet
As my heart joined in with their song.
And through this amphibian ensemble,
I finally heard the sound of my soul.
