"Writers Cramp" challenge entry

Sunset on Fat Tuesday
The crowds were getting wilder.
I wasn't in the mood for fun.
I planned to be much milder.

My boyfriend couldn't make it.
He said he had to work.
But he said to go without him,
Or he'd feel like such a jerk.

I set a three-drink limit,
But soon I was getting drunker.
The noise was growing loud.
It was getting so much darker.

I never liked the night
Especially in Quarter.
I heard about the ghosts
Spreading fear, fright and horror.

My wildest fears came true
Cold hands grabbed my forearm.
They pulled me in an alley
They meant nothing but death and harm.

He looked like a zombie
Straight from my worst nightmare
He licked his lips and grinned
Then started pulling on my hair

I shrieked and screamed
Wishing my boyfriend had come.
Only he could help me
Escape this ghostly scum.

Suddenly my nightmare
Pulled off his horrific disguise
And I saw it was my boyfriend!
I should have seen it in his eyes.
