One of my darkest poems. Where did this come from!
Misplaced Sorrow

The bitter liquid,
sides down her throat,
causing her to faint,
like a fictional southern belle,
into a dark void,
filled with constricting intensity.

While in this dark abyss,
where heaven meets earth.
She is still alive,
but so close to God.

Her breathing slows,
Approaching the line
Between endurance and death.
God stands on one side
While the hope of numbness,
Waves it’s flattering hand
Towards her, tempting.

God beckons her,
Reaching out his hand,
With no pretension,
As she straddles
The mist that lies
Between the two spheres
Deciding who at last
Will receive her into
Their good graces,
While she contemplates,
Her place within this deep chasm.
Knowing, peace was her goal,
When she entered this threshold,
Into obscurity.
