Easy Instructions for Creating a B-item Link The reason this is so important is because it is the way we share our poems and stories with others at Writing.com. As a rule, the contest host requires that contestants post a b-item link in the contest forum. If you are looking for a contest to enter, check out the Activities Page ("Activities @ Writing.Com" ). You can also send b-item links through e-mail to other members if you want them to review an item. Another great way to use b-item links is to place one or more in your signature block so that every time you send out an e-mail, you are highlighting one or more of your items. There are lots of ways to link your item, but the most commonly used is the b-item link. The b stands for "big". This link is the one that gives the most information about your item. Before beginning, you need to understand the difference in these three punctuation marks: { } braces ( ) parenthesis marks or (plural) parentheses [ ] brackets Here's how you create a b-item link: 1. Type a left brace like this { . 2. Type b-item like this: {b-item . 3. Type a colon like this: {b-item: . 4. Type the ID number of the item you want to link, like this: {b-item:1768111. 5. Add the right brace } Now your link looks like this: {b-item:1768111}. 6. The link you have created will look like this:
Just replace the ID number with the ID number of your story or poem or other item. The item ID number is located at the top of your item, above the title. The ID number may also be located beside the title in your list of items in your port. Do not use any symbols (like #) or letters (ID). Be sure there are no spaces in the link. ID Number
