a poem about getting on with it...
May as Well

We may as well do what we were put here to do.
We may as well dance until exhausted and through.
We may as well run just as fast as we can.
We may as well jump and never mind where we land.

The stars don’t shine because we’re in the background.
The winds don’t blow to move the dirt all around.
So we may as well shine and reflect all we’re given.
Because it will end and we may still never listen.

We may as well love as if there’s no tomorrow.
We may as well smile through buckets of sorrow.
We may as well hug our enemies as well as our friends.
We may as well curse and then just give in.

The sun will keep shining whether rain or sleet.
We’ll get up from our surgery or our families will weep.
The rabid dog will bite you or the cat may just scratch.
You get what I’m saying and that just is that.
