In which the author despairs of a good rhyme.
The Author’s Lament
By Lee Cooms

Sometimes, the author
cannot make a good rhyme.
The attempts that he offers,
just take up people’s time.
The lines that are thought up,
may sound like they’re right.
But, frankly, he’ll find
that his wording is trite.
Oh! Just see how awkward
it’s starting to sound.
It is really quite backward,
instead of profound.
Though perhaps unexpressed is a finely tuned phrase,
One hopes that a chuckle was possibly raised.
