You are ten years old. Life is good. You love the Beatles, Barbie and Chatty Cathy. As you grow older, life will change for you. Good things will happen for you and some bad things as well.
President Kennedy was shot. You saw him in person before he was shot. This confused you. Your father will go to Viet Nam three times but he will come home safe. He will be flying gunships. Luckily, his plane won't get shot down. Your friend Susie was born in Viet Nam and adopted by your mother's friends Bill and Ann. Bill bought Susie back from Viet Nam. A cute nine year old girl. You and your parents will live in Tennessee, Arkansas and you live in Maryland when you first hear about Viet Nam. When your father goes to Viet Nam, you and your mother will live with your grandparents in Indiana.
You will graduate, be in Miss Indiana Pageant, Junior Miss Pageants, be in Drama Class, make Thespian Society, receive Drama Trophies, a Miss Indiana State Finalist Plaque and a plaque for writing school news for the local paper. You go to the Prom with a guy who attends Notre Dame that you met in Arkansas. You will attend a private Catholic College and get an Associate Of Arts Degree towards Journalism. You become a Qualified Medication Assistant at a Nursing Home but you long to be a writer. You get two books published and write on an awesome writing web site. You love to write romance, Medieval times and a variety of genres.
You marry a handsome nice man who comes from a prominent farm family. You have a son Jason who marries a real nice young woman that you love as a daughter. They work in mental health. Jason gets his PHD and Erin has a Masters. You will be working in mental health.
Your life sounds perfect. It won't always be. Your first house burns down. Your husband put gas in the tractor and static electricity burned the house down four days before Christmas. It is rough but insurance pays off and you and your husband rebuild your ranch house. The following year, you have to have a complete hysterectomy due to a trace of cancer. You will be lucky. Twelve years later, you get a bowel obstruction, hernia and have an extensive operation and have to be on a breathing tube and sedated for six days. You have to learn to walk with walker and be on a Wound Vac. You walk by your self again and God is with you every step of the way. This is all your future that can be seen at this time. You are a survivor and love God and Jesus. You have friends who love you and you are brave.Your husband will be by your side every step of the way and so will your mother.
You love Christmas and love to scrapbook. You win Champion and Grand Champion on two of your items. No one leads a perfect life but you will endure. Cherish your family and go forward and focus on good and positive things. God is on your side.
