A heart to heart conversation between a mother and her troubled son. Dialogue 500 contest.
"Okay, Justin if you didn't take the laptop to the pawn shop, then tell me who did?"

"Mom, I already told you, I don't know anything about that! Why won't you ever believe me?"

"Well, let's think about this. Maybe it's because you've been caught in so many lies? Have you even remotely considered that possibility? Besides, I'm not blind, I can see the lie all over your face You aren't fooling anyone, and I'm sick to death of going through this with you!"

"But Mom, I ... Oh just forget it!"

"You what, Justin?"

"I said forget it, okay? I'm outta here!"

"Oh no, you aren't, boy. You're gonna stay right here and talk this out with your mother."

"Uh, hi Dad. I didn't hear you come in."

"That's because you were too busy arguing with your mother. Now, I'm gonna go get a shower, some of us work all day. When I come out, you best be here Son, got it?"

"Yeah, s-s-sure, Dad."

"So anyhow Justin, you were saying?"

"Look Mom, I know I've been a real shit, and I'm sorry. It's just that, well, things have been really tough for me lately. I don't expect you to get it, but that's the truth."

"Honey, things get tough for everyone now and then. That doesn't mean they have the right to treat someone else with disrespect and dishonesty. All it accomplishes is making things more difficult than they had to be in the first place."

"Yeah, I'm beginning to get that."

"Do you want to talk about it? Sometimes just having someone to listen can help a lot."

"I don't know. I seriously doubt you'd understand, no offense. Besides, you have enough to deal with right now, thanks to me."

"Thanks to you?"

"Mom, I feel rotten about everything I've been putting you through. I mean, I stole something of yours just to get a few measly bucks that I needed, and here you are, asking if I need to talk about things. I don't get how you can be so nice to me after all I've done."

"Honey, you're my son. I love you as much as any one person could ever love another. If you needed some money, all you had to do was ask me. Why didn't you just ask, Justin?"

"Because I just didn't think you would understand, and to be honest, I wasn't prepared to explain what I needed the money for. When the time is right, I'll talk to you about it all, but some things, a guy just has to figure out on his own. I know I went about it all wrong and I'm sorry Mom. I'll buy you a brand new laptop as soon as I get a job and have the money for it. Nothing like this will ever happen again, I swear!"

"Well, I certainly appreciate that honey. I do have just one more question though."

"Do we know when the baby is due yet?"
