A ramble about watching my wife progress through 20+ years of health issues and evolving.
Embracing the Sky

Perched upon a rainbow when I saw you,
I knew as one always knows
An ache within the heart,

No matter what some say,
I found once
A friend, a companion,
And memory is bound unto those days.

Still young now, I feel old.
But I remember
Things that we’ve been through.
I will never forget you.

Though now,
You’ve risen to clouds embracing the sky.
When you last fell,
You realized you could fly.
You spread your wings.
And demanded it be your day.
Your life. Your time.
Your wish.
And you deserve it.
No one can take it from you.

I can only ask to share,
Because I care,
And will shield the sun from my eyes
To watch you soar.
