Life is a mess of ups and downs, first, second and even third chances.
Second chances, Yes, I’ve had a few;
Why, I’ll never know.
I fell down so many times in life
the scars no longer show.
Climbing cliffs as a young tearaway,
with no safety gear,
Riding motor bikes with throttle wide,
without any sign of fear.
The crane hooked on the power lines
slowed my pace a while,
But I bobbed up again, next to a shark
with a lovely, toothy, smile.
Life deals us all a different hand, a hand
which we must play
if we’re to see the mystery we’re
heading for each day.
Who knows what’s just around the bend?
Let’s all have a look,
It’s not what I thought it was when
I read that book.
But the sun comes up shining bright
somewhere, every day,
I’ll enjoy what comes, when I can go
right outside and play.
