Epitaph for my father 14 yrs. after his death on his importance to me. Was published 2007

The twilight sky is the blue
of your eyes that dreamed us
into being
and I search its expanse for some sense of you.
You have gone beyond
the reach of my dreaming
things left unsaid tremble forever
on my lips like wild birds seeking flight.
The heavens, ever sentient, will not give up its secrets
and guards you jealously.
You were the brilliant thread
my soul is embroidered with
and I was gentled and made great
by the wisdom and love of you.
If I become even half of what you were
in my rite of passage
I will have given you immortality.
I will watch, and wait, until you pass this way again.
