After years of drought, will the rains ever come.
PITTER PATTER RAINDROPS.

Give me the summertime with refreshing winds and rain,
Pitter patter on the roof and gurglings down the drain.

The parched brown earth and billabongs have not seen rain for years
Grass and cattle dying, brings the stockmen fair to tears.
They sit out on the v'randah, cool drinks don't quench the thirst,
Gazing to the heavens "When will clouds fill and burst"?

The old dog feels it also, he knows the cows can't run,
No mustering for him today: just stay out of the sun.
Should drought go on another year, they'll lose the lot for sure
And move into the city, with the traffic, noise and more.

Give me the summertime with refreshing winds and rain,
Pitter patter on the roof and gurglings down the drain.

A rumbling sound off yonder, "Don't think there's planes today".
A gentle breeze drifts in and lifts some scattered piles of hay.
Away on the horizon. the sky begins to dark.
It's thunder! Dog awakens! and gives out with a bark!

Large raindrops hit the ground and the dirt just soaks it up,
Before too long the puddles form ( the dog's become a pup!)
He rolls in mud, wags his tail and rushes to his master.
Shakes himself, all drenched in mud, and runs back even faster.

Rainwater's flowing down the slopes and filling up the creek.
Stockmen dancing with the dog, they laugh, no need to speak.
Before too long the grass will grow and cattle will get fat.
Let's hope it rains for weeks; "Hughie! send some more of that"!

Give me the summertime with refreshing winds and rain,
Pitter patter on the roof and gurglings down the drain.

Give me the summertime with refreshing winds and rain,
Pitter patter on the roof and gurglings down the drain.
