Life change borne of necessity
I’ll Go Quietly

My aching bones betray me
they so keenly feel the cold
I ask the woman in the mirror
“Am I really growing old?”

No more winter winds a-howling
or watching snowflakes fly
I’ll breathe salty scented breezes
and hear the sea gull’s screeching cry

No more hikes by roaring waterfalls
or walks among evergreen trees
I’ll relax on the slope of a grassy dune
and stroll by the restless sea

This decision, not made swiftly
quite a change for me to make
but to me, life is an adventure
so it’s the sea o’er the mountain lake.
