A short poem about the absurdity of the Presidential Debates
|The Presidential Debates
Common decency and manners
left by the way-side,
watching influential people
on their downward slide.
hurled insults and outright lies,
lunacies and delusions of grandeur,
finger pointing, exasperated sighs.
A preview of what’s to come,
leaving many feeling bereft,
or with an insidious complacency,
few high ideals are left.
Egos never checked at the door,
the presidential debates are such a fallacy.
At the pulpit, before God and Americans,
we leave our children this legacy.
