If teenagers ruled the world, would it be a better place?
|Imagine, adolescents taking the world leader's roles and overlooking the politics of the entire planet.
Would this be a good idea?
In a word, YES.
Why do I think mere "kids" ruling the world, things would be in better shape? Because teenagers are probably the most idealistic people in the world! Because they are not burdened with age, cynicism, and a flat out jaded view, they would have a fresher outlook of this planet.
Higher education would be the foremost on their minds. I view teenagers as not a group of hooligans out to make dangerous decisions, but people who could make the meetings, make the decisions that need to be enforced, and follow up, because they have incredible energy just by virtue of being young.
I do not see the stereotypical loud mouth, lack of maturity, (and having a comfort zone as a home body), as being a realistic view of most young people. I believe they are capable of great works, although studying art history would my personal agenda, and vision.
("See: "If you think Man Ray is a fish, we need more Art in our schools).
Naturally, this might destroy the "luxury" of being young, out on your own, and making mistakes that would serve as a life long lesson plan. I would like to see both growing pains and youthful exuberance worked out side by side.
To back up this argument, in the past, many kings and queens were crowned as heads of their country as young people.
I held down a full time job at 16; it improved my grades.
Young people could be more philosophical, have a vision, and a better retirement plan.
It's something to think about.
Teenagers are a source of wisdom we are not mining - so hat's off to the future!
