A Poem about Zucchinis (Courgettes, for the English)
Zucchinis, Courgettes, Marrows
By many names you'll see
Depending who you are
You, or him, or me

I had a Marrow growing
A Zucchini as you'd say
A Courgette it would be here
I watched it every day

I'd watered and nurtured
The precious plant from seed
I'd made sure it would have
All that it would need

Today it's gone heavenward
Smashed by the hand
Of an allotment rival
Who just couldn't stand

To see my Zucchini grow so large
To attempt to win the show
But what he didn't realise
Was that I could stoop so low

For in my meagre garden
Hidden from all view
Grows the largest vegetable
They don't have a clue

That all the nobbling in the world
Won't stop me get that prize
I really cannot wait to see
The shocked look in their eyes.
