A letter composed to myself with goals for the New Year

         2016 was a rough year. What with the broken hip, changing jobs, going into and out of the hospital for mental help, it’s all been such a roller-coaster. As you know, New Year’s Resolutions and things like it aren’t all that important to me, but I learned in 2016 that if you set goals, you can achieve something. So while I’m still not into New Year’s Resolutions, I am now into setting goals for myself.
         Goal #1 is to read at least 12 books this year. I’m setting a goal of one book a month, hoping that will give me enough time to really get back into enjoying a good book every month. I have an idea of the books I want to read too, but I’m hoping to at least get through Susan Dennard’s books, Alexandra Braken’s books and Beth Cato’s books. That should put me at the very least 7 or 8 books. If this goal goes well, I might ramp it up to two books a month, but for now I’m sticking with one. I just have lost all joy in my life and want to get it back. Reading is something that has always brought joy and wonderment to me as well as given me many ideas for writing.
         Which leads into Goal #2 to write more. More specifically, I’d like to write a short story each month, and then work on my novel from OctoberPrep that I never got to finish because life got in the way. I’m making it a priority to at least finish the novel, even if I don’t like how it is written, I just want to finish it, by October. Then I can revise or move on to a new project for NanoWriMo 2017. Writing is something that feeds my soul and I feel as though I have been starving myself for a very long time. It’s time to start being healthy again.
         Goal #3 is to lose more weight, approximately 50 lbs in the next 6 months. It’s time to get that lazy butt back to the gym, lol. No seriously, I really enjoyed working out last year when I could, and I think that it is a very healthy thing, both mentally and physically for me to do.
         Goal #4 ties in with Goal #3 and that is to eat healthier. I want to start making more recipes that are healthy and work on eating more protein to fuel my body. I have so many recipes that I can try, downloaded from Pinterest and other areas. I just need to wake up and make them.
         Goal #5 is one of the most important. I want to get my CNA this year. I really have tried in the past three years to get my CNA but things always get in the way. I’m mostly healthy this year, I’ve got the class all set up, I just need to motivate myself and do it to the best of my ability. I can do this, I know I can, so I just need to go for it.
         In the end, I know there will be other goals that crop up in 2017, some short term and some long term but these are the five that I have decided to start out with. In order for you to get these five accomplished, there are a couple things you need to do to prep. First, you need to make a list of these goals and put them on the wall. Then you need to plaster motivational sayings around these goals for when you’re feeling down and out. Finally, you’ll need to revisit these goals every three months, and see if there’s anything you need to add to them, or delete from them because you’ve accomplished them.
         This letter serves to myself as a reminder of all the things I want to do and all the things I want to accomplish. I set this forth as a testament to myself that I will accomplish these goals in a healthy and happy way.
