As I dance; In true joy; And show the fear; I am no toy
If you were to watch me
On a given day
Of self assurance
And human display

Then you will see
That rain of love
Falls from others
To me from above

And then you will know
That as I dance
The rain of love
Never got the chance

To touch and cover
My body, my soul
As I dance around
The rain’s true goal

If you looked closer
You might find
That I run and hide
With one thing in mind

And as time goes on
Love turns to fear
As the rain drips up
As my thoughts appear

Of what others think
Of how they act
When standing in front
And around my back

If you watch even more
Notice the rain will slow
But the dancing, my fear
Will only grow

As the viewers leave
As I am left
If you stay
Notice the theft

Of people to me
As they stole my heart
My mind, my soul
And only left one part

The me that feared
And stood before tyrants
Of loud noise
And emotional giants

If you would stay
Then keep your silence
As I dance in earnest
And true defiance

And the fearful rain
Will begin again
But not my own
But from selfish men

As I dance
In true joy
And show the fear
I am no toy

That man may do
What they please
With me or you
I will show my peace

And take your hand
Who stood by my side
And only thought
Of everything but pride

And humbled yourself
For both our sake
So that we may mold
And someday make

Rain of Peace
Rain of Choice
When men no longer
Hold captive our voice

And we may scream
And we may shout
In times of danger
When rain turns to drought

And bring forth the clouds
Of our own design
And create the rain
That shall tie the twine

Between me and you
And others out there
Who struggle and fail
With society’s stare

Of our thoughts
And actions
Of our display
Of reactions

Let us no longer fear
Those who light
Our mistakes, our faults
In the dark of night

But let us rise
And let us gather
So that both Life and Society
Will flee and scatter

So that we can stand
Upon this stage
And break free
From our own cage
