The world is forever changing

Not The Same
Sitting on a roadside park bench enjoying my own muse.
It’s hard not to be paranoid after watching the morning news.
I tuck back in to place the fear that could so easily engulf me.
Refusing to let it overtake me in the “land of the free.”
A gentle breeze offers the wondrous aroma of someone grilling out.
The smell of grilled burgers and hot dogs makes me almost shout.
Trying not to give in to the wants and needs of my belly doing flip flops.
I watched a bunny run in front of me, thinking I never once saw it hop.
Out of the corner of my eye I thought a saw something fly by, so near.
Then I caught sight again and saw my first hummingbird of the year.
I moved my head to watch it, my head bobbling like a fool,
Till it dived among the roses like I once did a belly flop into the pool.
Now quite hungry and a little dizzy, I head back home where this journey had began
In the distance a car backfires and the worlds' craziness comes crashing in again.
Finally I see my house, I feel some comfort as I pass my neighbors volley ball game.
Just a year ago I would have cut through that yard, but the world now is not the same!
