a poem about staying together no matter what.
Just a glimpse in the mirror.
A complicated part of a dream.
One that cannot last the evening.
Much less than what it seems.
Can you stay and live with me?
You know we’re not in love.
Loneliness is a good excuse.
But, is boring good enough?
The last time was an accident.
The first time was remote.
I can’t remember either one.
Perhaps the wine, the dope.
It’s sad we wanted to be memorable.
Twenty years may be too much.
Can anyone survive the daily trickle?
Anyone drowning in that much luck?
Perhaps we squint our eyes and smile.
Raise our hands to wave.
Keep passing in the shadow of our doorway.
Keep the freedom monster at bay.
