Occupation of my beloved city.
|In the gloaming time, candles cast a warm glow
Within tentative homes along dusty streets,
As soldier's garrulous murmurings waft on an evening breeze.
Residents stroll through a city undone by cannon and gun,
Ever wondering if the end has just begun.
Some walk the levee for a brief respite,
Spying black steel monsters queued for the night.
And residents all resent the invasion here,
Of hearth and home held so dear.
And conspicuous by far is the infernal hue,
For the Rouge red city is now a city in blue.
