The despairing loss of my leaves

I am a lonely willow
Rooted atop a hill
The sun meets me to my right everyday
The moon meets me to my left every night
One brings comfort
The other brings discomfort
A reminder more like
Of how bare and naked my branches are
The wind is no help either in this conundrum
Not long ago, I lost a leaf dear to me
And not a day ago i lost another
I look down my hill at others like me but unlike me
I wonder what they do to keep their leaves
I wonder why mine keep falling
Am i right to want them to stay
Am i a fool to wish for them to one day come back
To be brought back by the pestering wind and turn it to a saint if only for brief moment
No answers ever are gifted to me
I watch, i lose, i question, and wonder as for what i am
I am a lonely willow
Upon my hill i am rooted,
Watching the world grow as i wither away
One leaf loss at a time...
