Finally deciding to tackle a new craft. An Ottava Rima form poem
Today's the Day

Kathleen McNamara

I hold a sheet of cyphers in my hand
A pastel ball of mohair on my lap
Long bamboo needles the color of sand
Basic ingredients to make a cap
I had told myself that today's the day
That I would learn to knit and not crochet

For far to long I have avoided it
Knitting seem to be so complicated
Crocheting never flustered me one bit
Learning to knit gets me so agitated
Yarn flies through my hands; knit stitches galore
One row complete; only forty-five more
