My Easter Happenings
Easter Rainbows

Shards of the rainbow litter my lawn
Eggs decked out in color awaiting the hunt
Children bounding with giggles in search of the prize
Girls fashioned in dresses and boys in bow ties
Mom is in the kitchen prepping the Easter meal
Dad with his camera filming the Easter finery
The scent of ham roasting lingers in the air
Straw colored baskets adorn the deck
New Baby bunnies snuggled under a bush
Yellow peeps in the baskets smiling hello
Grass glistens from the mist of recent rains
Green blades rich and new bid spring adieu
Church bells peal calling us home
Family memories that warm the heart

Splinters of wood and nails in his flesh
One man and his cross, days long ago
Gave us his all, so that we might live
Tears of his mother in sorrow spent
Echo remembrance of a soul forsaken
Up on the hill dismal clouds depict mourning
Witnesses weep as his death is evidenced
Buried in a tomb of stone with no light to shine
One man and his cross, days long ago
Gave us his all so that we might live
He is risen Alleluia, Alleluia
Church bells peal calling us home
Family memories that warm the heart
