The people I have around me that help me get through life
I have to say that my two children are amazing when it comes to understanding who I am, not that it's always been easy especially as my son has ADHD as well. I also have a sister who understands and supports me because of her own struggles. This is very much a two-way support system between the two of us. It's mutually beneficial.

My other support system has been my Church for the last twenty-two years. The people there have rarely judged me, people aren't perfect of course and I've been misunderstood at times. I have to say that my faith and the people I now have around me have helped me through many difficult and dark times. Not only do I have ADHD but also I've gone through major brain surgery and I was abused by my dad. I can honestly say that I was somewhat of a mess. Sometimes I still struggle with things, more so since my Dad died. I thought it would make things easier but it only made things harder.

I have a counsellor from my Church; I've been seeing her for over three years and this has made a huge difference, I've moved forward in ways that I couldn't imagine before.

Therefore, I have a multi-layered support system and they all have their place in my life. My Christian faith is what has helped me through so much, especially in the middle of the night when people aren't normally around. I find great comfort in knowing I have a God who is looking out for me.
