Sometimes it feels like the deck is stacked against you.
A long day's past,
so very tired,
Can.Barely.Speak.
It's time I retired.

Set the alarm.
Turn out the light.
Pull up the covers.
Good night.

Wha? who?
What was that?
That crash and bang.
Stupid cat.

Out of my room!
The night's getting deep.
No more distractions.
I need me some sleep.

BANG! JESUS!
What the hell now?
The dogs started playing.
Causing a row.

Will you dummies quit it?
Come on, cut it out.
You can tell that I’m angry?
Is it cuz of my shout?

OK.
No more distraction.
I'm getting some shut eye.
Some sleep satisfaction.

RRRRING. RRRRING.
Are you kidding? The phones ringing too?
This is just nutty.
What the hell can I do?

It's like the night has a vendetta.
A personal grudge.
And an inch down the sleep path,
It won't let me budge.

I'm closing my eyes now.
I WILL get some sleep.
Is that my alarm clock?
BEEP. BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.
