what is lost has more sweetness
She Who Watches

How do we practice
what is forever?
Am I closer than the young,
supple ones on zafus
here in my stiff-backed chair?
Watching my breath
In:peace for myself
Out:peace for all others.
Losing count
I think of cold, fruit soup
the unpaid bills,
begin again.
Slowly, each silence
strips away
a patina of memory,
anger, fear, envy
all floaters in my mind.
The chime sounds.
What is lost dissolves
like sugar into water.
I drink its sweetness.
