Fears of what lurk in the dark
|Into The Night
A midnight veil rolls cross the land
foreboding darkness grows.
The moon comes out and dances
as the sun dons evening clothes.
As twilight fades from blue to black
a new world comes alive.
Were plants and bugs illuminate
in shadows predators thrive.
The wolf it prowls throughout the night
stalking prey thats unaware.
Those animals that trod the day
with verily a care.
The owl rests snuggled in a tree
protected from the light.
Then as the evenings curtain falls
it hunts and takes to flight.
A firefly floats gracefully
upon a humid evening breeze.
It's body twinkling as the stars
that dance upon the sea.
Mushrooms carpet the forest floor
with a luminescent glow.
They bring an eerie light of mystery
to nature's nightly living show.
Dare I step into the night
engulfed in darkness shroud.
Surrounded by the things that stalk
and creep along the ground.
Or shall I wait for mornings light
to gently guide my way.
And leave the darkness to itself
putting all my fears at bay.
