Lonely -- hushed scene in ultraviolet.
Their hammers bright
Flashed in gleaming maelstrom --
Hints of neon imbued
By blazing haste:
         Ultraviolet leaves shuddered,
         Green bayonets in wet huddled
         Beneath silhouette cloud-heads.
Glimpses, just an instant --
Utopia could go on for miles
Before the black veil
Smeared a foggy crown.

Crickets remarked, sang
Long beyond golden hours.
Soaked fireflies pulsed,
Re-created the essence
Of all escaped on a sheer horizon --
         There on a cement stoop,
         There in a lonely wood,
Hushed.
