What happens when you want a mid-night snack

The house is quiet,
the dogs asleep.
So, into the kitchen,
stealthily I creep.

I open the fridge,
the light shines bright.
I block its rays,
what a sight.

I open a cheese wrapper,
and what do I hear?
But three sets of four legs,
coming near.

First Buddy, then Bella,
followed by Pitz-Pitz.
They all hit their brakes,
and into my kitchen they glide.

Around my feet,
they stand on hind legs.
Acting as if,
they were all strays.

They stood their ground,
wanting more.
So, I fed them my cheese,
and shut the fridge door.

Tomorrow I’ll try,
with them outside.
To remove the bulb,
my night raids I can hide.
