An entry for the Dear Me Contest
Dear Me,

Are you going to lie to yourself again this year?

Okay, so you don’t make New Year’s resolutions. But you know that’s not true. You make resolutions all the time. You just don’t embarrass yourself by make them on New Year’s day.

Take this year’s promises. You promised yourself you’d:
Take reviewing other people’s work more seriously. (Are you kidding? That would mean that you have to know something.)
That you’d write another novel and
That you’d write a few short stories this year. (What the heck does ‘a few’ mean?)
That list is too short. No! that list is too long; focus on one of them and maybe you’ll actually do it. Which one should it be? Which is first on the list? Serious reviewing. If I choose that one, it means that I’ll have to learn something. Yep, that’s the one which really matters.

Now, stick this up on the fridge, so you don’t forget it, for at least for a couple of weeks.

Cheers,

Your hopelessly optimistic muse.
