A vampire gets a call from his past, but she's been dead for a long time.
|"Ugh! Stupid bloody phone again...hello?"
"Yes? Who is this?"
"You don't know who this is?"
"Yes. It's me my dear husband."
"But...but...you've been dead since..."
"1887. And so are you except you're considered to be called a vampire."
"But I don't understand. It's been over a hundred years ago since..."
"Since you killed us?"
"Tommy, are you crying?"
"Yes. I'm so sorry."
"I know you're sorry, dear."
"I didn't mean to do it. I didn't mean to kill you and Simon that night."
"We buried you in the cemetery after the doctor thought you had died from tuberculosis. Simon and I went to visit your grave when I saw it was tampered with, or so I thought at that time. I rushed over to Dr. Bowens with the baby in my arms."
"And when you arrived?"
"He and his wife were found dead. Their bodies covered in blood. I was so frightened that afternoon that I rushed home, put Simon to bed, and locked everything. I grabbed my father's shotgun from the closet and remained in the parlor during the night while the baby was asleep."
“It was after one in the morning when I arrived. Am I correct?”
“I had fallen asleep and I awoke by a loud noise coming from upstairs. I rushed to Simon’s room and that’s when I saw something hovering over his bed.”
“And that’s when you saw me.”
“You had eyes the color of death, your skin was as grey as stone, and you had our son’s blood dripping from your mouth. My heart raced at the sight.”
“You screamed. You died.”
“I left the gun downstairs but that wouldn’t do anything for you.”
“I drained your blood. I drained our only child’s blood. I killed you both. You never rose from your grave.”
“Neither did Simon. I forgave you, Tommy. I always did. I saw you cry over our graves during that whole night.”
“Yes. I’ve been watching you since that night.”
“What do you mean you’ve been watching me?”
“Even vampires have restless spirits looking after them. Good or bad.”
“So you’ve been watching me since 1887? Ha!”
“As you can see from your cell phone that there’s no name and number for you to call back.”
“Ella, are you an angel?”
“No. I’m just a restless spirit watching your every move.”
“Is Simon with you?”
“No. I don’t know where he is. But if he’s an angel in the heavens above, or as some would say… reincarnated, then I hope his spirit is at peace.”
“Then why are you calling me?”
“It’s time, Tommy. It’s time for you to be with me again. I can see you’re in pain every day. The coffee’s been brewing for too long, my love.”
“I haven’t seen the sun since…I miss the sun.”
“It’s time to hang up for now.”
“Ella. Please don’t hang up right now. I miss you so much.”
“Ella? Ella? Ella!”
