"I Am Born"
My memory is bathed in shadow, born
a tiny speck within my mother's womb.
I grow; become amazing, graceful form
cast from this space to other places soon.
Bare tadpole; swim to grab appointed shore
and soon I reach a mouth, insert a thumb.
My arms and legs a gift I'm grateful for.
I swim in dreams; in quiet solace hum.
Cocooned and wrapped in love I hear her call;
she rocks my body; cradled as I sleep.
I hear her beating heart while mine is small;
remember all her songs that I must keep.
Though I'm a mystery from shadow borne,
I'm filled with wide-eyed wonder for my home.
