We miss so much of the beauty around us everyday!
|I want you to do something for yourself. Take the blinders off you've been wearing for so many years. You're probably thinking , "You must be delusional, I'm not wearing blinders."
The fact of the matter is most people out there are without even knowing it! These blinders are one's of your own making. You probably don't even realize they're there. You go about your life working at your job, taking care of your family, being involved in this activity or that.
We have the tendency to get so focused, putting that focus on people and the situations going on around us so much we don't see the beauty that is everywhere in our midst.
Next time you're out at the park, walking on the beach or even just sitting in your front yard, pull off the blinders and take a good look at the beauty around you. God's creation is absolutely amazing!
Take time to open your eyes taking in the intricacy of the smaller things that usually go unnoticed throughout your day. You see that spider web with the morning dew on it? Stop what you're doing walk over and take a closer look. The beauty of the light dancing through the dew drops hanging on each silken strand is a woven masterpiece.
How about the butterfly that just landed on the flower next to you, do you see the amazing array of colors in its wings? There's that oat grass on the beach swaying in the arms of a summer breeze perfectly choreographed by nature.
This is barely scratching the surface of the multitude of things going on around you that most of us take for granted and go completely unnoticed. God did something mind-blowing when He created this world, putting things in place for us to marvel at and be awed by.
Psalm 19:1 tells us, "The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims His handiwork."
God's presence is right there before us in all it's glory. Unfortunately through the busyness of life the grand majority of people miss it! Taking in the beauty of His creation around us is actually scientifically proven to relieve stress, bring down your blood pressure and calm your mind. As a bonus it will actually feed your soul and bring you into a closer relationship with God.
So do yourself a favor, take time and go watch the sunset as God paints a tapestry across the sky, weaving and blending colors that are unmatched by any artist hand. If you'll take notice of these things as you go throughout your day I believe you will find that your health improves, physically, mentally and spiritually.
And if that isn't enough of an incentive, just think of the big smile on God's face as He watches you like a child "His child", taking in with wonder the beauty of creation that He surrounds you with. The thought of that fills my heart to overflowing! How about you?
