Forget your selfish life
We take most things for granted
Everyday things that we see
We seldom stop to think about
How fragile life can be

Just take a look around you
Yes, open up your eyes
Some things you never noticed
Might give you a surprise

The birds that fly above you
The red leaves on that tree
There’s nature all around you
If you’ll just take time to see

Forget your petty worries
Forget your selfish life
Take time to notice others
Take a good look at your wife

Do you look beneath the surface
And see who is inside?
Or do you just go on your way
And take it all in stride?

She’s with you in the morning
She’s there with you at night
But is she too familiar?
Just another common sight?

Don’t let that be what happens
Don’t do what I have done
Don’t take your wife for granted
When you know that she’s the one

The one who’s been there with you
When times were bad or good
Yet you never give her credit
Even though you know you should

Surprise her with some flowers
Let her know how much you care
It might not be too long before
She may just disappear

And you may need her greatly
When your poor mind is toast
Yeah, when you lose your marbles
That’s when you’ll need her most

It isn’t far away now
The time is getting near
You’ll look and ask, “Who are you?
And what are you doing here?”
