The Squirrel and the Bear

The squirrel hid in the hollow log
waiting for the bear to come along
Once upon a time, good friends they were
until one fateful day when an incident occurred.

A bear hunter traipsing through the woods-
pushing his luck and up to no good,
shot at a bear- this bear, and missed.
The squirrel's parents, the bullet instead kissed.

Now an orphan critter,
and feeling quite bitter,
the squirrel decided retribution
was the only solution.

While the fault is not the bear's,
the squirrel didn't really care,
as the bear didn't protect
the ones onto which Squirrel's love projects.

Bear fled,
and the squirrels bled,
while the hunter gathered the two
and turned them into stew!

So Squirrel now has a score to settle
and we find it best not to meddle,
so we'll leave the story here,
before onto us, his attention steers.
