Adopted boy demanded for by his new mother but not accepted by his new father.
Beggar child

Cold and rain has brought me here
Back to my hungry, younger years
Hoping that just once you’d share a smile
You left me there the beggar child
Just one of many dark clouds in your skies
I knew
I was not the son in your eyes

I did not come to see your death
Expecting one more curse with your last breath
If you could never bother
to even try to be a father
Why would I perpetuate the lie?
I knew
I was not the son in your eyes

Innocent but eager to be seen
Your negligence was cold, dark and mean
I grew to hate you and love you all the same
Far too young to understand the game
Just another mutt in your pack of lies
And I knew
I’d never be the son in your eyes
