History found in the wind swept Orkney Islands
Skara Brea

Kathleen McNamara

Eight stone sentinels,
that's what the sea has left us.
How long will they remain?
Their stories, amazing.
Their age, so humbling.
The curtain of time pulled,
a gift of the Earth Mother.
The answers, we must find.

Who were they?
The dwellers, so ancient
but not so different.
Nine millenia ago,
a blink of the eye of God.
Nine thousand years hence,
how will we be seen?
