This is a short fiction about a girl who is trying to patch things up with her friend

I keep checking my phone, waiting for that ping of the messenger notification. I feel restless, like there are rats in my stomach. It's a big decision, what I have asked from her.

Take all the time you want.

But please say yes.

I try concentrating on my SAT homework but I keep losing focus, so finally I give up. I check my mobile again. She hasn't even seen my message yet.

Getting anxious again I get up and start pacing back and forth.

What if she says no?

No she will not, I tell myself, I know she will not...or do i?

It has been a year since we last talked. Since college started I could feel us getting distant. The messages kept getting shorter, the call minutes reducing, until finally there were no calls and no messages. To be honest, when we finally stopped talking, I thought that was it. I had lost her. I told myself to move on. That life happens and family becomes stranger. Yet every night, every idle moment my mind would slip to thoughts of her. Her messy hair that she whined about but that looked like silky strands of gold. Her eyes, as brown as the tree trunks in autumn. Her cute little face that I could read like an open book. Her ....

God I miss her.

I go to my shelf and stare at out picture in that pastel pink frame, as if staring hard enough would somehow summon her here.

I would give up everything just to be friends with you again, even if that means him. Ill give him to you if that's what you want.

Trrrinngg trrinngg! My phone starts ringing. With trembling hands I pick it up. I check the caller ID:

Best friend x3
