This young narrator can't understand why his kindness bucket won't fill. (For children)
IS THERE A HOLE IN MY BUCKET?

I cannot fill my bucket
no matter what I do.
I cleaned my room, I swept the floor,
I folded laundry too.

And yes, I yelled at Michael
when he came into my room
and told him he was stupid
when I chased him with the broom.

But won’t it fill a little
since I finished all my chores?
I only argued twice with Mom
for keeping me indoors.

I also helped my neighbor.
I watched him rake his yard,
then showed him all the leaves he missed.
Man, finding them was hard!

I thought for sure, with all I did,
my bucket ought to fill,
but since it's dry as it can be,
please tell me how it will.
