——————- * ——————-

odd poetry shards
along the the great river way
beneath the tree stone of time
on a spring dig together
when the wind kicked up
and dust settled in our eyes
and I first understood
about love

then truly it was
that you whispered in my ear
across the echoes of time
while we toiled there together
in the shade and the dirt
and the afternoon heat
and you breathed me a story
of love

for all of that day
and nigh into the twilight
looking back within time
as shadows grew together
and our ancestral souls
smiled down on our bivouac
where we danced to rhythms
of love

my mind whirled and stuttered
my heart set to flutter
as the words unfurled my soul
reaching for solar winds
spiraling down within
‘long the road to Santiago

and deep in the night
as we uncovered secrets
hidden lost beneath time
that lay buried in ruins
since ‘fore the creation
dreaming eyes unsealed
and burned with the wisdom
of love

and there I beheld
the most wondrous of wonders
arching out beyond time
as we traveled together
through oasis valleys
filled with mushrooming stars
while we sang sweet refrains
of love

for tho we’re apart
in the pieces of separate
we abide out of time
and we’re always together
and this space that we see
may be only ourself
as we spin out our tales
of love

my mind could not fathom
my heart leapt the chasm
illumined the path of my soul
pulsing in harmony
strolling eternally
‘long the road to Santiago
